The which day the lords of his majesty's privy council and commissioners foresaid agreed and voted that a commission shall be completed and granted to [William Douglas], earl of Morton, treasurer, to [William Graham], earl of Menteith, president, [James Hamilton], marquis of Hamilton, to [Robert Ker], earl of Roxburghe and [John Stewart, earl of] Carrick, to Sir William Alexander [of Menstrie], secretary, and to Master John Hay and Master George Fletcher, or any five of them, to convene and meet with the English commissioners and to confer and treat upon everything that may concern the intended association, and with absolute power to conclude therein, having his majesty's approbation thereto, and with provision that nothing to be done nor concluded herein shall be prejudicial to the privileges of this kingdom and crown thereof.
