The estaites of parliament ratifie, approve and perpetuallie confirme the signature past under our laite soverane lord, his royall hand, daittit at Holeneby, the tent day of Merch 1647 yeeris in favouris of his maties right trest cousing and counsellour Johne, erle of Lowdoune, lord Tarringyeane and Mauchline, high chancellour of this kingdome of Scotland, off the office of shirefschip of the shirefdome of Air, with all priviledges, liberties, casualities, proffeittis and dewties pertening and belonging therto during all the dayes of his lyfetym; and also the laite signator past under our said laite soverane lord, his royall hand, for himselff and as father and laufull administratour to the prince, his maties darrest sone, our soverane lord who now reignes, of the daite Carisbrookcastle the twentie sevint day of December 1647 yeeres foirsaid in favors of the said Johne, erle of Lowdoune of the office of bailliarie of Kylestewart, with all priviledges, liberties, casualities, proffeittis and dewties whatsomever perteining and belonging therto during all the dayes of his lyfetyme, as the saidis twa signators at mair lenth beires, in all and sundrie heidis, articles, clauses and circumstances therof whatsomever, declaireing this present generall ratificatioune to be alse valyde, effectuall and sufficient as if the foirsaidis twa signators were at lenth word be word heirin insert, with the not inserting quherof and with all utheris defectis and imperfectiounes whatsomever whilkis may be objected againes the validitie of the saidis signators or this present confirmatioune therof the saidis estaites of parliament have dispensit and heerby dispenses for ever. And the said estaites of parliament doe heerby ordaine giftis to be past and exped under his maties great seall in favors of the said Johne, erle of Lowdoune of the foirsaidis offices, conforme to the saidis signators, and declaire the same to be guid and valyde rightis to the said Johne, erle of Lowdoune for bruiking, joyseing, possessing, useing and exerceing of the foirsaidis offices of shirefschip and bailliarie with all liberties, priviledges, casualities, proffeittis and dewties whatsomever pertening and belonging therto during all the dayes of his lyfetyme.
