Ratificatioune in favouris of Sir Archbald Johnstoun

The estates of parliament, haveing considderit the giftis of pensioune granted be his matie to Sir Archbald Johnestoune of two hundreth punds sterling yeerlie during his lyfetyme in recompence of his good and faithfull service and for inableing him to continue therin, as his maties gift of the sevint of November 1641 yeeres at lenth beires and the act of parliament ratifieing the same of the daite the twentie nynt of Julii 1644, and haveing considdered his maties uther gift of pensioune to the said Sir Archbald Johnestoune of uther two hundreth pundis sterling yeerlie during all the dayes of his lyfetyme, in recompence of his good and faithful service and inableing him to attend the chairge as advocat to his matie, as his gift under the king's hand of the daite the threttie day of October 1646 proportis and the act of parliament ratifieing and approveing of the same; and farder finding it necessarie, inrespect of the conditioune of the said Sir Archbald, utherwayes unable to attend the publict chairges he is intrusted with, and recomending seriouslie that the saidis two pensiounes be dewlie peyed at the termes mentioned therin, as the act of the twentie sevin of Merch 1647 yeeres mair fullie proportis; lykas that their were severall letters and warrandis frome the kingis matie unto the thesaurer, thesaurer deputtis and lordis of exchequer for paying the saidis pensiounes, with that preference of payment which have bene observed to officeris of estaite, notwithstanding of any uther letters, instructiones or warrandis in the contrarie, and ane act of exchequer wes maid therupone on the twentie sixt of November 1647. And whairas the estaites of parliament have removed the said Sir Archbald Johnestoune frome the office of advocat to the kingis matie and have appoynted him to serve the king and kingdome in the chairge of being clerk of registere, the saidis estaites, never intending therby to prejudge him of any of these pensiounes which he had granted to him frome his matie, not only for inabling him to future service bot also in recompence of his bygane good and faithfull service, and that the same sould endure for all the dayes of his lyftyme and not only for the space of the possessing of the said place, doe, for the farder incurageing the said Sir Archbald to serve the kingis matie and the kingdome in the chairge that he now hes or any uther chairge that sall be layd upone him, and for preventing any mistakes or doubtis which may arryse by his removeall frome the office of the king's advocat or frome any uther place, they declaire that the said pensioune are payable to the said Sir Archbald during his lyfetyme notwithstanding of his removeall frome the said place, and doe ratifie, approve and confirme the same giftis of the two pensiounes abonementionat, with the two former actis of parliament, letters and warrandis frome the kingis matie and act of exchequer for the preference of the dew and thankfull payment therof to him during all the dayes of his lyfetyme, in the haill tenors therof, dispensing with all the defectis and impedimentis if any be. And farder dothe heerby seriouslie recommend unto and requyre the commissioneris of the thesaurarie and thesaurer depute and ther successoris in ther offices, the lordis of exchequer, the receaveris of his maties rentis and all utheris quhome it concernis to be cairefull according to their severall interestis that the same be reallie performed to him during all the dayes of his lyffetyme.
