The estaites of parliament, taking to their consideratioune that ther is many places of privie counsall now vaiccand, pairtlie be deceas and pairtlie be sentences of depositioune pronunced againes certane of them in this present sessioune of parliament, whairthrow necessitie requyres for administratioune of justice in that chairge that certane persones of honor and knowne abilities be added to the said privie counsall. Thairfore the saidis estates of parliament hes nominat and appoynted and be thir presentis nominatis and electis Robert, vicount of Arbuthnot, [...], lord Brechen, Johne, lord Balmerino, James, lord Coupar, Arthour Erskene of Scottiscraig, Sir Charles Erskene of Alveth, knight, Sir David Home of Wedderburne, knight, Sir Thomas Ruthven of Frieland, knyght, Sir Robert Adair of Kinhilt, knyght, and Arthor Forbes of Echt to be privie counsallors, and that ad vitam vel culpam, with power to thame and everie ane of thame to bruik and joy the foirsaidis places as privie counsellors with all honors, dignities, proffeittis, benefites, liberties and priviledges which hath bene possest and bruiked be any of his maties privie counsallors of befoir and which may be now bruiked by the lawis of this kingdome. Lykas the foirsaidis haill persones, being personallie present, maid faith de fideli administratione in dischairge of that trust imposed upone thame as privie counsellors, and therupone asked instrumentis.
