The estates of parliament, haveing taken to ther consideratioun ane supplicatioune given in to thame be Sir James Hope, makand mentioune that ther wes lent be him for use of the publict in anno 1644 the soume of ane hundreth pundis sterling of money upone ane printed band, besydes the availl of thriescoir pundis sterling worth of leid; of the whilk band nor interest therof the said supplicant hes as yit receaved no payment. Humblie thairfore craveing that the saidis estaites of parliament wold ordour the said soume of ane hundreth pundis sterling, with the bygane interest therof contenit in the said band, to be repeyed to him out of the first and reddiest of fynes and borrowed moneyis, and to [this] effect wald earnestlie referr and recommend his supplicatioune to the committee of moneyis, as at mair lenth is contenit therintill. Whilk being heard and considdered be the committee of billis, and ther opinion therupon reported to the parliament, the saidis estates of parliament have ordained and ordaines the foirsaid soume of ane hundreth pundis sterling, with the interest therof since the daite of the foirsaid band, to be repayed to the said Sir James Hope, supplicant foirsaid, and that out of the first and reddiest of the fynes or borrowed moneyis; and seriouslie recommends to the committee of moneyis that some reall, speedie and effectuall course may be taken be thame for satisfieing of the supplicant of the foirsaid principall soume and annualrentis out of the saidis fynes or borrowed moneyis or any uther way they shall think expedient.
