Act in favouris of Barbara Mein

The estates of parliament, taking to their consideratioune the supplicatioune given in be Barbara Mein, relict of umquhile Mr Williame Home, makand mentioune that whairas it pleased the reverand presbytrie of Wigtoune, out of compassioune to the said Barbara and her childring (quhois husband foirsaid wes killed in publict service and sealled the work of God with his blood), to allow to her ane yeeres vaiccand stipend of the kirk of Kirkinner quher the said Mr Williame served, which also wes recommendit seriouslie to the said presbyterie and parochine by the generall assembly in anno 1646. Notwithstanding whereof, [it] lyes yit in the handis of the parochineris, not uplifted for diverse yeeres, and thairfore supplicating the saidis estaites of parliament to interpone ther authoritie therto for furthering of the more speedie uplifting therof and that the premises is of treuth and veritie, as the extractis of the actis of the presbytrie and generall assembly beires; whairfore the saidis estaites of parliament may be pleased to pas ane act for comanding the parochineris to anser the said supplicant without any further delay. Whilk being heard be the estaites of parliament and remitted be thame to the comittee of billis to give thair opinion theranent, they haveing given in their said reporte theranent, the saidis estates of parliament hes ordained and ordaines the persones addebtit and in use of payment of the foirsaid stipend to mak payment to the said Barbara Mein, supplicant forsaid, conforme to the recomendatioune of the generall assembly, and seriouslie recommendis to the committee of warr within the shirefdome of Wigtoune to sie the samyne effectuallie done.
