Act in favouris of Alexander Forbes of Auchintoull

The estates of parliament, taking to their consideratioune the supplicatioune given in be Alexander Forbes of Auchintoull, makand mentioune that, whair, for his affectioune and constancie to the gude caus, the comoune enemie did not onlie plunder the haill guidis, geir and plenishing perteining to the said supplicant and his tennentis, bot also James Grahame and his accomplices quartered on his saidis landis in the night befoir the battell of Alffuird and therefter brunt the house, bigginges and cornes and killed foure of the said supplicant, his tennentis, the losses extending to nyne thousand, nyne hundreth twentie thrie pundis, as is evident be the reporte therof (theirwith produced) dewlie registrat and approven; and that by and attoure the losses sustenit be the said supplicant throw the oppressioune of the promoteris of the laite unlaufull Ingadgement and violence offered to the said supplicant, his owne persone, for not complying with them in ther proceedingis; and thairfore supplicating that the saidis estaites of parliament wald take the premises to their consideratioune and evidence the same by taking some reall course how the said supplicant, his losses in some measure may be repaired, seing the supplicant hes bene much imployed in the publict service and giveing long attendance without any kynd of the least reparatioune of the supplicantis greate losses, as at mair lenth is contenit in the said supplicatioune. Whilk being remitted to be considdered be the committee for commoune losses and burdinges, and they ordained to sie the samen instructit and reporte ther opinion therupone, whilk accordinglie being given in be thame, the saidis estates of parliament hes ordained and ordaines the soume of two thousand pundis Scottis to be peyed to the said Alexander Forbes of Auchintoull, supplicant foirsaid, for his present subsistance, and that out of the fynes or borrowed moneyis of any appoynted to be fyned or ordained to lend money till his losses be taken to farder consideratioune; and recommends the said supplicant to the said committee now appoynted for moneyis, that some effectuall course may be taken for his peyment of the soume of money abonewrittin.
