The estats of parlement etc., taking to ther consideratioun the supplicatioun of the inhabitants of the Channorie of Ross, shewing that their kirk (sometyme called the cathedrall kirk of Ross) lyes desolat and destitute of a publict ministrie, to the great greeff and hurt of the supplicants, ther soules, ever since the late happie reformatioun, and that for want of a competent provisioun and maintenance; as also shewing that many kirks of the kingdome, especiallie these quhich are of the same qualitie and conditioun with the said kirk, hes bene provyded out of the bishops rents, and that the said kirk hes most near relatioun therto, being alwise served personally by the pretendit bishops as a particular congregatioun, without anie other provisioun; and that the bishops rents are exacted strictlie and imploied to secular uses, whill as the said kirk wants maintenance; and thairfor craving the said kirk to be declaired a particular paroch kirk and to be provyded with a competent maintenance out of the said bishops rents, as at more length is contained in the said supplicatioun. Quhilk being takin in consideratioun be the saids estats of parlement, they seriouslie recommend the provyding and planting of the said kirk called the cathedrall kirk of Ross to the commissioun for plantatioun of kirks, to be takin in consideratioun be them amongst the first of ther acts at ther doun sitting.
