Act ratifying and contayning the tennor of the band for secureing the peace of the kingdome and enjoyning the samen to be subscryved

The estats of parlement, taking to thair consideratioun the acts and precepts of the late committee of estats for citeing certan persons to give suirtie for the peace of the kingdome according to the band presented to thame, and that severall persons accordinglie were conveened before thame and [did] give satisfactioun theranent, they doe thairfoir ratifie and approve the saids acts, precepts, bands and what hes followed therupone. And now, considering that it is necessary towards the settling and securing the peace of the kingdome that the lyk course be prosequute, thay doe therfor appoint and ordaine precepts to be issued out for citeing such persons as were upon the late Engagement or others as thay shall think expedient to compeir before them or their committees having power for that effect, to give suirtie and to subscryve the band and declaratioun, whereof the tennour followes: Quhairas I etc. am convenied to find surties for keeping the peace of the kingdome, theirfor to testifie my readie obedience to that which is so just and reasonable and to witnes my desyre to hinder and prevent anie danger or disturbance which may arise to this kingdome and to clear my resolutions, I declare that I doe acknowledge the indiction, meeting and constitutioun of this parlement, the laufulnes, friedome and authoritie of the parlement of this kingdome conveened on the 4th of Januar 1649 and that I shall not any maner of way call the samene in questioun. And I, the said [...], as principal, and [...], as cautioner and souertie for me, faithfullie bind and obleidge us conjunctlie and severallie and our airs that I, the said [...], shall never directlie nor indirectlie consult nor act in any thing tending to the diminution of the authoritie of the said parlement or of the committee of estats that shall be appointed by thame for the publict effaires; and that I shall not ryse in armes nor in any hostile way oppose thair proceedings for the prosequution of the caus according to the covenant or concurre with, assist, keep intelligence or correspondence with any invaiders of this kingdome or rysers in armes within the samene against the foirsaid proceedings of the fornamed parlement or committee. And if I shall hear or know of any thing quhich may dirogat from or prejudge them in any sort, I shall as soone as I can possiblie reveall the same to some of ther owne number to be communicat to the rest. And that I shall neither be my self nor others be my knowledge or directioun doe or suffer anything to be done that I can let or hinder quhich may disturb the present quiet or peace of this kingdome or proceedings of these judicatories as aforsaid, or which may prosequute the late Engadgement and expeditioun into England or break the union betuix the kingdomes under the paine of [...]. Consenting thir presents be registrat in the books of parlement or of the committee of estats, that all executioun personall and reall may pas heereupoune which hes beene ordinary in the lyk caises or which the parlement or committee shall think meet. And to that effect constituts [...], my procurators, promitten de rato. In witnes quherof I have subscribed thir presents with my hand etc. etc. Lykas the estats ordaines everie nobleman being cited to give the suirtie foirsaid and to find cautioun under the paine of ane hundreth thousand merks; and every barone of quality under the paine of fyftie thousand merks ad minimum; and other persons according to ther severall degries and ability. With certificatioun that whosoever refuses or failzies therin shall be holden and estimat as enemies to and disturbers of the peace of the kingdome, and to be proceeded aganst accordinglie as the parlement or there committees shall think fit.

Warrant: for the subscription of the bond for securing the peace of the kingdom

The estats of parlement gives warrant to the committee of dispatches to conveine any persoun they think fitting for subscryving the band for secureing of the peace of the kingdome.
