The estates of parliament, haveing hard and considdered the supplicatioune of Doctor Johne Sharpe, shewing that he had lent and delyvered to the publict for advanceing the good caus 20,000 merkis Scottis, whilk wes his haill stock, and that the samyne, with the most pairt of the annnuelrentis therof, is yit unpeyed, whairby he, his wyff and childring are brought to necessitie and extremitie in want of thair meanes of mantenance; and thairfore desyreing the parliament not to suffer him to be brought to ruine, bot to tak some speedie and reall course for his payment, as the supplicatioune mair fullie proportis. The saidis estates ordaines the said Doctor Johne Sharpe, supplicant, to be peyed of his haill bygane annualrentis yit trewlie restand unpeyed to him of his said principall soume of 20,000 merkis out of the monethlie mantenance of this kingdome for the twa monethis of Merche and Appryle 1648 yeeres instant, and out of the excyse of the kingdome swa soone as the samen mantenance and excyse shall be setled and established be the parliament, the armie being alwayes first payed and the generall commissar repeyed of the 6,000 merkis presentlie advanced be him to that expeditione appoynted for suppresing of these Irishes and ileanderis now in rebellion, and the quarteringis dew to the shires and burghis allowed to thame in the first end of ther mantenance for the saidis twa monethis. And for this effect the estates of parliament doe heirby give precept and warrand to the generall commissar and his deputtis and any utheris, the collectoris and intromettoris with the foirsaid excyse and twa monethis mantenance of Merch and Appryle 1648 yeers instant, to mak reddie, reall and thankfull peyment to the said Doctor Johne Sharpe of the haill bygane annualrentis yit trewlie restand unpeyit to him for his said principall soume of 20,000 merkis out of the foirsaid excyse and twa monethis mantenance abonementionat, the armie, with the 6,000 merkis abonewrittin dew to the generall comissar and quarteringis foirsaidis, being first payed and allowed in maner respective befoir ordained.
