The estates of parliament etc. hes ratified and approven and be the tenor heirof ratifies and approves that chartar and infeftment under his hienes great seall of the date the penult day of October jM vjC fourtie sex yeirs made and granted be our said soverane lord in favors of Sir David Crichtoune of Lugtoune, knyght, his airs and assigneyis, quherby his majestie, with consent of the thesaurer principall and depute and remanent lordis of exchecker, not onlie ratified and approved that disposition of the date the penult day of Februar jM vjC threttie sevin yeirs made and granted be James Borthuik, brother germane to umquhile George Borthuik of Todhill, to the said Sir David Crichtoun of Lugtoune, his airs and assigneyis heritablie and irredimablie off all and sundrie the landis of Todhill, with the pertinentis, lyand within the lordschip of Newbotle and shirefdome of Edinburgh betuixt the landis of Shirefhall upon the eist, the landis of Gilmertoune upon the west and southe, the landis of Drwm upon the north pairtis, and of all and sundrie the teindscheaves and personage teindis of the saids landis, with the pertinents, togither with the tua chartars and instrumentis of saising following therupon, bot also his majestie of new gifted, granted and disponit to the said Sir David Crichtoune of Lugtoune and his foresaids the abonewrittin landis and teindis, togither with all richt, title and interest [his] majestie, his airs, predicessors and successors had, hes or aniewayis may have clame or pretend thairto or to the mailles, fermes and dewteis of the samen for the causes mentioned in the said chartar, togither with the precept and instrument of saising following therupon in the haill headis, clauses and conditions therof; and declares this present ratification to be alse gude, valeid and effectuall as if the said chartar, precept of saising and instrument followeing therupon wer insert and set doune heirintill ad longum et de verbo in verbum, quheranent the saidis estates of parliament hes dispensed and be thir presentis dispenses for now and evir.
