The estates of parliament, now conveend in this sext session of the first trienniall parliament, haveing respect to the trew and thankfull service done to his majestie and to the cuntrie be James Blair, younger, merchand burges of Irwing, and his predicessors, hes ratified and approven and be the tenor heirof ratifies and approves the gift granted be our soverane lord the kingis majestie under the privie seall of the date at Edinburgh, the tuentie ane day of November jM vjC threttie sex yeirs, off the office of cocquet clerkschip within the haill boundis of the bailliarie of Cunynghame to the said James Blair, younger, during all the dayis of his lyiftyme in all and sundrie heidis, articles, clauses, priviledges and circumstances quhatsomevir specefeit and set doune therintill. And the saids estates of parliament willis, grantis, declares, statutis and ordanis that the said James Blair, younger, sall peaceablie and frielie bruik, joyse and posses the foresaid office of cocquet clerkschip within the boundis of the said bailliarie of Cunynghame with all proffeits, casualities and dewteis quhatsomevir perteining and belonging therto off all schippes, crears, barkis, boatis, merchandice and others quhatsomevir, either imported or exported be quhatsomevir persone or persones within the boundis abonewrittin, alse frielie in all respectis as anie of his predicessors bruiked and possest the samen in anie tyme bygane, and that during all the dayis of the said James, his lyiftyme, conforme to the tenor of the said gift but anie stopte, trouble or impediment to be made or moved in the contrair. And that this present generall ratificatioune of the said gift salbe of alse great force, strenth and effect to the said James Blair during his lyiftyme in all respectis and conditions as if the samen wer at lenth verbatim ingrost heirintill, dispensand theranent and with all objections quhatsomevir that may or can be alledgit in the contrair; and ordanis thir presentis to be published at the mercat croce of Irwing.
