The estates of parliament, now conveened in this sext session of the first trienniall parliament, ratifies, approves and confirmes the gift granted by his majestie to Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall, knyght, his hienes late advocate, and his sone, [the] tenor wherof followeth: Charles R[ex]. Forsamekle as we wer pleased to employ our trustie counsellor, Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall, our advocat, to be our commissionar at the generall assemblie of the kirk haldin and begun at Edinburgh, the second day of August jM vjC fourtie thrie yeirs and closed upon the nynten day of the said moneth of August, and that therby thair is dew to him the ordinar allowance used to be bestowed be ws upon our commissionars to the generall assemblie of the kirk, quhilk is the sowme of fyiftie pundis sterling to himselfe and ten punds sterling to the beirar of the commission under our great seall before our said commissionar for ilk day during the tyme of the assemblie (quhilk endured be the space of eighten dayis), extending to the sowme of ane thousand fourscore punds sterling, therfore it is our speciall pleasur that the said Sir Thomas and his said sone be payed of the said sowme of ane thousand and fourscore pund sterling dew to them respective furth of the rentis and casualities of our exchecker of the said kingdome and that ane signator be exped to him therupon to be past our privie seall, conteining ane gift of suche dewteis or casualities as will extend to the payment of the saids sowmes, whilkis salbe alse valeid as if the samen wer signed be our royall hand and for quhilk thir presentis salbe a sufficient warrand, and ordanis thir presentis to be recordit and registrat in the buiks of our exchecker, given at Newcastle, the tent day of August jM vjC fourtie sex yeirs, in all the headis, articles, clauses and conditions therof, declaring that the said gift and this present ratification therof is and salbe a sufficient and valeid right, and dispensing with all defectis and imperfections (if anie be) in the said gift for evir.
