Act Lieutenant Generall David Leslie and Major Generall Midletoune

The estates of parliament, haveing hard and considered thir desires following represented to them be Generall Major Midletoune, viz: first, inrespect of his chargeable way of liveing, nevir haveing takine frie quarters, that a considerable pairt of his arrears may be presentlie advanced and the rest payed out of the fynes and forfaltors in the north, and these fynes and forfaltors may not be disposed of till he be payed if anie uther way sall not be thocht upon. 2. That he may be payit for the moneth of Januar, haveing bene still in charge, and in that respect that what he getis of the money comes to the armie in England may not be accompted anie pairt of his arrears. The saidis estates of parliament approves and allowis the desires and overtors abonewrittin and grantis the samen, and declares that the sowmes and arrears dew to Major Generall Midletoune sall beare anuelrent and interest therfore, payable be the publict to him quhill his payment of the samen sowmes, and doe heirby obleidge the estates of the kingdome to him for that effect. And alse the estates of parliament, heirupon taking to ther consideration the sowmes and arrears dew and adebtit be the kingdome to Generall Lieutenant David Leslie, they doe thairfore heirby grant and declare the lyke in his favors as is granted in favors of Generall Major Midletoune, and that the sowmes and arrears dew to the said Lieutenant Generall David Leslie sall lykewyse beare anuelrent and interest to him quhill the payment therof, lykeas they obleidge the estates of the kingdome to him for that effect.
