The estates of parliament, taking in consideration the suplicatioune of James, erle of Hartfell, schewing that Major Barras with his accomplices plundered and took away the suplicantis haill insicht and plenissing of his hous of Newbie, amounting to the value of tua thousand punds sterling and above, and therfore desyring the estates of parliament to signifie ther pleasur heiranent to the committie of Cumberland and to sie the suplicant restored to all was takine out of his hous, and lykewise that the samen might be recommended to the English commissionars by suche as ar appointed to treat with them, that they may use ther best endeavors in the suplicantis behalfe with the committie of Cumberland for the effect foresaid, as the suplication beirs, togither with the report of that committie appointed for reveising of billis and suplications concerning the suplicatioune abonementioned and desire therof, the saidis estates of parliament findis the desire of the foresaid suplication just and reasonable, and therfore they doe heirby seriouslie recommend the suplicant to the committie of Cumberland, desyring them to sie him restored to all that was takine out of his said hous of Newbie be Major Barras and his accomplices, and ordanis letters of recomendatioune to be writtin in his favors for this effect As also ordanis these formarlie appointed to treat with the English commissionars to deale with them in the behalfe of the suplicant, that they may use ther best endeavors for effectuating his desire foresaid.
