Prayeris said, rollis called.
Quheras the tuentie sevint day of Februar 1644 it was enacted by the committie of estates of this kingdome then sitting at Edinburgh that a regiment of horse sould immediatlie be lifted within this kingdome for preventing of forrane invasions, intestine plots of malignantis and there adherentis, and for seing the ordors directed by them put to execution, and for keiping the subjectis in a dewtifull obedience to his majestie, the lawis and publict judicatories, the charge and command of whiche regiment and place was by the foresaid committie of estates given and granted to Sir Frederik Hamilton, knyght and colonell, with all the intertinementis, priviledges and liberties therunto belonging, quherin the said Sir Frederik hath faithfullie, duetifullie and gallantlie behaved himselfe; and it being now resolved by the parliament of this kingdome, for good considerations moving them that no entire regiment of horse sall stand, so that the said Sir Frederickis and all the rest of the regimentis of horse ar to disband, therfore the estates of parliament doe declare and thankfullie acknowledge the faithfull and trew service done be the said Sir Frederik and his tuo sones, Captane Frederik and Captane James Hammiltons, meriting therby from this kingdome heartie thankis and approbation, and that being so exonered they ar frie to seik and accept of anie furder employment sutable to ther worth.
