Act of approbatione of the directorie and for recording, publishing and practeiseing of the same, conforme to the prented copie

The estates of parliament, now conveened in the fourt sessione of this first trienniall parliament be vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, haveing seriouslie considdered the prented copie of the directorie for publict worshipe now presented wnto them from the commissioneres of the generall assembly, and finding the same agreeable to the copie presented from the late generall assembly in the preceeding sessione of this parliament, doe thairfoir ratifie and approve the said prented copie and ordeane the directorie for the publict worshipe to be recordit, published and practeised according to the tennour thairof.

Committie for reveising the letters exhibite be the lord chancellour and heareing his report

The estates of parliament nominates and appoyntes the persones wnderwrittin of ilke estate, viz: the erles of Lauderdaill and Lanerke for the nobilitie, the laird of Maner and Brughlie for the barrones, Sir Johne Smyth and Patrike Leslie for the burrowes, with the lord chancellour and president to be supernumerarie, to whom they grant commissione for heireing and reveiseing the letters produced be the lord chancellor from the parliament of England or thair committies or from our owne armie or generall persones thairof or quhat the said lord chancellour hes to report, ather committed to him verbally or be warrand of the said letters, and ordeanes the said comittie to report to the parliament the resultes of the said bussines.

Act for punishing and fyneing of these who have not keeped the randevous

The estates of parliament, presentlie conveened in the fourth sessione of this first trienniall parliament be vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, considdereing how necessar it is for the good of the present service and encouragement of such as in obedience of the act of parliament made at Stirling, the nynt of July last hes keeped the randevous appoynted at this place, that some present exemplare course be tane with such as have stayed at home in contemning the publict call of the kingdome and withdraweing thair assistance from it in such ane exigencie, doe thairfore statute and ordeane that the fourt pairt of everie ones land rent, money rent and casuall rent according to the valuatione, without deductione, be furthwith exacted from all such noblemen, gentlemen and heritores who wer appoynted to keepe the randevous one the 19 day of Julii last and are not allreddie comed, and from such as wes ordeaned to keepe the randevous wpon the 24 day of this moneth and hes not comed before the last day of Julii, and the estates declaires that these who hes gone away without live shall be in the lyke conditione with the absentes, as also aged and infirme persones who hes not putt out horses for themselves to be in the same conditione. Quhilkes fynes the saides estates ordeanes to be imployed for the second outreeke of horses out of the particular shyres and the committie of warre in ilke shyre to be obleist for imployment of the superplus thairof wpoun ane magazine of armes and amunitione, and these shyres only to have the benefit thairof that shall satisfie thair dues. As also ordeanes the committie of ilke shyre to be wplifteres of the saides fynes and to be judges of all excuses of noblemen, gentlemen, burrowes and comounes and to have letters of horneing directed at thair instance for that effect wpoun thair decreits to be pronunced be them for not fullfilling of the act of parliament made at Stirling, the nynt of Julii last for thair not compeirance at Pearth at this tyme, conforme to the publict orders.

Act to the magistrates of Edinburghe in favoures of the toune of Leith

The estates of parliament, presentlie conveened in the fourth sessione of this first trienniall parliament be vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, haveing takine to thair consideratione the desyre of the supplicatione given in to them be Johne Adiesone, ane of the baillies of Leith, and James Crawfuird, indueller thair, craveing, in respect of thair great and wrgent necessitie and vehemencie of the plaig of pestilence quhairby all meanes of liveing are debarred from them, that some supplie may be granted to them in such ane exigencie, as the said supplicatione at mair lenth beires. Quhilk supplicatione, being red in audience of parliament and the just merits thairof duelie weighted and considdered be the saides estates, the saides estates of parliament be thir presentes gives full power and warrand to the present magistrates of the toun of Leith to mell and intromet with the nomber and quantitie of fyve hundreth bolles of oat meale and that out of any seller or selleres in Leith quhair they may have it for medling thairwith, quhairof (and, if neid beis, makeing opene doores for that effect) declaires thir presentes to be to the said magistrats, thair servands or commissioners ane sufficient warrand; and the saids estates of parliament hes allowed and be thir presentes grantes full liberty to the saides magistrates of Leith or any haveing warrand to pas throw all the sherreffdomes of this kingdome be south of the water of Tay to crave the helpe and supplie of ane voluntarie contributione for payment of the foirsaid victuell and furnishing of such things as may be wsefull to the said toun of Leith now in such ane extreme exigencie.
