The estates of parliament, presentlie conveened in the second sessione of this present parliament be vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, ratifies and approves the gifte and dispositione made be umquhile James, sometyme pretendit archbeshope of Glasgow, to his majesties lovit Patrike Veitche, commissar clerke of Peebles (designit in the said gifte servitour to Mr Thomas Hendersone, advocate) dureing all the dayes of his lyftyme off the office of clerkeshipe of the commissariote of Peebles, comprehending the shereffdomes of Peebles, Selkirke and Roxburghe and haill boundes thairof, togidder with the formeing of all testamentes great and small of whatsomevir persones that should happine to deceise within the saides boundes, with all and sundrie fies, casualities, proffittes and dewties perteaneing and belonging thairto vacand and come in his handes be dimissione of umquhile Thomas Barbour, last clerke thairof, quhilke gifte is of the dait the sexteene day of December the yeere of God jM vjC and fyfteene yeeres, with the power and comissione made and givine be the said umquhile James, pretendit archbeshope of Glasgow for the tyme to the said Patrike Veitche for creating, constituting and appoynting under him depute or deputes, ane or ma, in the said office of sicke persones as he should thinke meit and qualified thairfoir and for whom he should be ansuerable and that at sicke tymes and occasiones as he might not convenientlie avait thairupon himselfe, in the haill heides, articles, clauss and conditiones thairof conforme to the tennoures of the samene in all pointes, and declaires, statutes and ordeanes this present generall ratificatione to be als good, valied, effectuall and sufficient in all respectes as if the foirsaid gifte and power abovewrittin were at lenth ingrost word be word heirintill, dispensing heirby with the not inserting thairof. And als statutes and ordeanes the foirsaid gifte, with the foirsaid power of deputatione and this present ratificatione, to be good, valied, laufull and effectuall rightes to the said Patrike Veitche for his bruikeing and joysing of the said office and wplifting the fies and casualities thairof and makeing and constituteing deputes in maner foirsaid dureing all the dayes of his said lyftyme without ony impediment, obstacle or contradictione quhatsomevir to be made to him be ony persone or persones, conforme to the samene gifte and dispositione and power of deputatione heirby ratified in all poyntes and according thairto.
