Act in favoures of manufactories, masters, workeres thairintill, servantes and prenteiss

Forsamekle as the estates of parliament, now conveened in the second sessione of this first trienniall parliament be vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, taking in consideratione the good and benefite that the erecting, interteaneing and menteaneing of manufactories within the kingdome doeth produce both to the credit of the kingdome and profite of the leiges and for the breiding of poore indigent persones in vertuous exerceises, the estates, for cherishing and encourageing of these who hes allreddie erected and shall erect and advance any manufactories, and heirwith also the estates, considdering the hinderance and prejudice that may come to manufactories by putting out any of the maisteres who are actuell workeres in the manufactories or their servandes, prenteiss or any other actuall workeres therintill in any expeditiones or leaveyes to be raised or put out be the kingdome or by quartering of ony souldieres, horse or foote, wpoun them or imposing wpoun them any taxationes or impositiones quhatsomevir, for remeede quhairof the estates statutes and ordeanes that the foirsaids manufactories and masteres therof who are actuall workeres therintill, their servands, prenteiss and actuell workemen in the samene are and shall be liberate and frie in all tymecomeing for goeing out as souldieres, ather horse or foot in any expeditione or forces raised or to be raised be the kingdome now and heireftir, and dischairges all magistrates, officeres and otheres persones quhatsomevir, to burghe or land, conserned heirintill of all troubleing the saides maisteres, actuall workeres, servands, prenteiss and actuall workemen in the foirsaids manufactories heiranent and of all quartering of souldieres, horse or foot wpoun them in any tyme heireftir, but suffer them peaceablie to attend their workes wntroubled thereintill. And farder the estates declaires the foirsaides manufactories, the maisters, actuell workeres thereintill, servands, prenteiss and actuall workemen in the samene frie of all taxationes, impositiones and all other publict dues ather allreddie imposed or to be imposed and ordeaned to be done and payed be order of the estates of parliament or committies of parliament for the publict service of the kingdome in tymecomeing or dureing the tyme of the troubles of this kingdome.
