Committie for managing the warr within and without the cuntrie

The quhilke day the estates of parliament, presentlie conveend in this second sessione of parliament be vertew of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his majestie and thrie estates in anno 1641, takeing in consideration the manageing of the warres within the cuntrie, recruteing, governeing and interteaneing the armies abroad, nominates and appoyntes Johne, erle of Lauderdaill, president of the parliament, Alexander, erle of Leven, lord generall, James, erle of Callender, lord lieutennent generall, Archbald, marques of Argile, [...], Williame, erle of Louthiane, lieutennent generall of the Scotts forces in Ireland, Sir Adame Hepburne of Humbie, generall commissarie, with sicke other generall officeris of the armie as shall be present as supernumerarie in this commissione, and Johne, erle of Craufurd, Johne, erle of Cassilles, Charles, erle of Dumfermeling, James, erle of Tullibardine, Williame, erle of Lanarke and Alexander, lord Ballcarras for the nobilitie; Sir Johne Hamiltoun of Orbestoun, justice clerke, Sir Archbald Johnestoun of Warristoun, Arthor Erskeene of Scottscraige, James McDowell of Garthland, Mr George Winraham of Libbertoun and Mr Robert Meldrum of Brughly for the barrones; Sir Johne Smythe, proveist of Edinburgh, James Simpsone for Dundie, Patrike Leslie, proveist of Aberdene, Thomas Bruce for Stirling, George Bell for Linlithgow and Johne Lepare, burges of St Androis, for the burrowes (or ony nyne of the haill as ane quorum, there being tuo present of these nominat for everie estate) to be ane committie for manageing the warres within the cuntrie, recruting, governeing and interteaneing of the armies abroade, and the estates grantes full power and warrand to the foirsaid committie consisting of the persones abovenamed, or to the quorum therof foirsaid, there being tuo present for everie estate as said is, to doe everie thing expedient or necessar for the good of the manageing of the warres within the cuntrie, recruiting, governeing and interteaneing of the armies abroade as the said committie or quorum thairof foirsaid shall find convenient and as they will be ansuerable to the parliament. And the estates appoyntes the place of meitting for this committie to be within the inner rowme of the parliament house, and thaire first day of meiting to be this day at tua aftirnoone and at sicke other tymes and dyetts thaireftir as the said committie or thair quorum foirsaid shall appoint dureing the sitting of this sessione of parliament.
