The estates of parliament, presentlie conveend by vertue of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his matie and thrie estates in anno 1641, ratifies, approves and confirmes the gift granted by his matie wnder the privie seale, of the dait the ellevinth day of November jM vjC and fourtie ane yeeres, to and in favoures of Sir Archbald Johnstone of Waristoun, ane of the ordinare lordes of sessioune (therin designed Mr Archbald Johnestone of Waristoun, advocate) off ane yeerlie pensione of tuo hundreth punds sterling dureing his lyftyme, givine and granted to him for his service to his matie and the estates of this kingdome and for the experience his matie hade of his faithfullnes and painfullnes in the then late treattie betuixt the tuo nationes and his maties confidence of his true, sinceir and constant affection to his service and for his maties intentioune to imploy him in the sessioune and in other publict employmentes, which he could not wndergoe nor dischairge without his maties speciall supplie and helpe of mentenance therintill, which pensioune is appoynted to be payed to him dureing all the dayes of his lyftyme at tuo termes in the yeere, Candlemes and Lambes be equall portiones, and to be wplifted forth of the first and reddiest fewmailles, fewfermes, customes, impostes and otheres his maties rentes and casualities within this his ancient kingdome, as the said gifte at lenth proportes, in all and sindrie heides, clauss, articles and conditiones therof in all poyntes. And the estates declaire that the foirsaid gifte and this present ratificatioune therof is and shall be ane sufficient and valied right to the said Sir Archbald Johnestoune for bruiking, possessing and wplifting the foirsaid pensioune yeerlie and termlie dureing his lyftyme, conforme to the tennour of the said gifte and this present ratificatioune therof, and that this ratificatione is and shall be alse valied as if the foirsaid gifte wer insert verbatim heirintill, wheranent, and anent all defectes and imperfectiones if any be in the said gifte, the saides estates dispenss for evir.
