The estates of parliament, haveing considered the supplicatione givine in be Sir Johne Scot of Scottistarbet, with assistance of James Maxwell of Innerweik, desyreing the act of the generall assembly for reestablishing the regent of humanity in St Leonard's Colledge to be ratified and approvine, with additione anent the reestablishing of the said regent, conforme to the first fundatione and contractes made theranent, and that he may have his proportionable pairt of his maties beneficence granted to the wniversity of St Androis, conforme to the gift granted be the king's matie to the said regent of humanity for that effect, and also that he be declaired a member of the said wniversity and capable of all dignities, priviledges and emolumentes in lykemaner as any other regent or member of the said wniversity, sieing (this being granted) the supplicant is most willing to mortifie all of new to the said regent, as the supplicatione at mair lenth beires; they find the desyre foirsaid ressonable and therfore they grant the samene desyre.

The estates of parliament, presentlie conveend be vertew of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his matie and the thrie estates of parliament in anno 1641 yeires, haveing hard and considdered the desyre of ane supplicatione presented to them for remeiding and removeing of some impedimentes hindering the collecting and ingathering the loane and taxt within the shereffdomes of Aberdene, Bamff and Kincardine, togidder with the relatione made theranent be Robert, lord Burghly, who was president of the late committy of estates for the northerne effaires at Abirdine, the saidis estaites, for remeid of the saids impedimentes and for bettir collecting and ingathering of the foirsaid loane and taxt be these appoynted for receiveing therof, grantes pouer and warrand to David, lord Elcho and heirby ordeanes him to put and cause be put to dew executione all actes and ordinances made be the late committie of estates at Aberdene for ingathering of the foirsaid taxt and loane within the saids shereffdomes of Aberdene, Bamffe and Kincardene, to the effect the samene taxt and loane may be speedily gottine in and the collectoures and resaveres therof may be ansuered and obeyed without impediment or resistance.

The estates of parliament, now presentlie conveend be vertew of the last act of the last parliament haldine be his matie and thrie estates in anno 1641, haveing hard and considderit the relatione produceit in writ for Robert, lord Burghlie and remanent of the committie at Aberdene appoynted be the conventione of estates to goe alonges with the marques of Argile in the northerne expeditione, quhilke wes publictly red in audience of the parliament, beirand ane particular accompt of the said committie, ther diligence and proceidingis, quherof the said Lord Burghly wes president, and of there cariage and haill deportmentes for dischairge of the commissione granted to them be the conventione of estates, as the paper produced conteyneing the same report at lenth proportis. And haveing also compaired the whole actiones and proceidings of the said committie with ther said commissione granted to them be the conventione of estates, the saidis estaites findis and declaires that the foirsaid committie hath in all fidelitie cairfullie and diligently walked worthy of the trust and chairge put wpoun them be the conventione of estates and conforme to the said commissioun granted to them in all poyntes, and therfor the estates of parliament approves the foirsaid committy, ther diligence and proceidingis, whilke they find punctually done according to the said commissione, and not only liberates and exoneres the said committie therof, bot for the farder declaratione of the estates, ther respect to the said committy, ther good cariage in the foirsaid imployment, the estates addis this generall approbatione: that the foirsaid committie hath deserved weill of the publict as loyall subjectes to the king, faithfull serveands to the estates and trew patriotes to ther cuntrie. And also the saids estates ordeanes the erle of Sutherland and the erle of Seaforth's men to be brought out, and grantes power to the committy to sitt at Aberdene for the northerne bussiness to setle the erles of Sutherland and Seafort, and appontes the ellevint of Julii to be the randevous and day of meiting of the committie at Aberdene.

Anent the supplicatione givine in to the estates of parliament be Thomas Nicolsone, burges of Aberdene, David Kempt, messinger, William Johnestoun, William Scot, serjand in Aberdene, Thomas Loudiane ther, William Steill ther, John Broun there, Johne Menie ther, Andrew Cruikshank ther, Alexander Cruikshank ther, John Hendersone ther, William Scrogie ther, Peiter Skeddomay ther, Johne Aiknet ther, Johne McKie ther and James Rany there, desyreing the parliament to deligat so many of ther owne nomber, or ony other as they please, to be judges by commissione to take precognitione of the criminall persut intentit by the instigatioune of Sir Alexander Gordoun of Cluny at the instance of the relict, bairnes and freindis of umqhile William Broun and at the instance of the said laird of Cluny befor the justice aganes the supplicantes abovenamed for the pretendit slauchter of the said umqhile William Broun, and to appoynt such dyetes as the estates should thinke fit for this effect; and, in the meane tyme, to give warrand to the justice to continowe the dyetes aganes the supplicantes to sick tyme as the judges delegate shall report the precognitione to be tane be them to the parliament, as the said supplicatione at mair lenth beires. Quhilke supplicatioune being red in audience of the parliament and the samene, with the desyre therof abovementionat, tane in consideratione be the estates of parliament, the saids estates ordeanes the justice and justice deputes foirsaids to take the tryell and probatioune of the haill circumstances of the bussines abovespecified, and thereftir, befor puting of the samene to the knowledge of ane assyise, ordeanes the justice and his deputes to make report of ther procedor to the haill parliament and estates therof, and ordeanes this to be done with all expeditione; and, in the meanetyme, dischairges the justice and his saids deputes of any farder proceiding except as is before ordeanit whill the said report.
