The erle of Quenesberrie protestit that the nominatione and calling of the erle of Lindesay before him should not prejudge him of his dewe place of precedency before the erle of Lindesay.
Maister Thomas Nicolsone, for the erle of Lindesay, protestit in the contrair.

The estates grantes power and commissione to the erles of Mar and Glencairne for the noblemen, the lairds of Halkertoun and Beshoptoun for the barrones, the commissioneres of Linlithgow and Bruntyland for the burrowes (or ony thrie of them, one being for everie estate) to resave, reveise and consider all billes, supplicationes and ratificationes to be presented to this parliament. With power to them or ther quorum to grant warrand for citatione of pairties to compeir before the parliament or committie of estates eftir parliament, incaise the parliament ryise before the day of compeirance, and ordeanes this committie not to determeine bot to report to the parliament and to reject what bill they thinke not competent to be received, but prejudice to the suplicantes to present these to the parliament.

The estates grantes commissione to the lords Balmerino and Burghly for the noblemen, the lairds of Grenocke and Maner for the barrones, and the commissioneres of Dundie and St Androis for the burrowes to considder upon the way of approbatione of the calling of the conventione of estates and all there proceidings and what hes flowed fra them, and to report what they thinke fitt heiranent, and ordeanes the lord register and clerke of counsell to be present with this committie.

The estates ratifies the haill nominationes made for the haill shyres of ther committies of warr in ther severall divisiones and continowes them in the same forme as they are, and approves the committies named be the marques of Argyle for the northerne shyres of Kincardine, Abirdeine and Bamff, except sicke as are cited to the parliament or wnder catione to appeir before the parliament, who are excepted and not to have chairge in the committies; and ordeanes the commissionares in this parliament from the severall shyres to acquaint the committies of ther shyres heiranent.
