Forsameikle as James Blair and James Broun, captanes of the shippes callit [...], have presentlie borrowit from the marquis of Argyll sex peice of cannon, and fra the earle of Eglingtoun tuo piece of cannon, for the better furnisching of thair schippes in the service quherin thei are imployit be the estaits for guarding of the west coast, and they have geven band to the saids noblemen for the delyverie thairoff; and the estaits finding it nowayes reasonable that thei sould be lyable for restitutione theroff if the same be lost in the publit service, thairfoir the estaits declares that if any of the said cannon salbe lost in the publict service as said is, that thei will sie satisfactione geven thairfoir to the saids noblemen, awneres theroff, and the saids capitaines releiveit of ther ingadgments and bands geven thairfoir.
