Protestatioun toun of Edinburghe againes Robert Leslies ratificatioune

In the parliament haldin at Edinburghe, the sevinteene of November, jM vjC fourtie ane yeeres, the quhilke day James Cochrane, merchand burges of Edinburghe, commissioner for the said burghe, in name and behalfe of the proveest, baillies, counsell and commontie therof, protestit that the ratificatioune granted be the kingis majestie and estates of parliament of the dait heerof in favoures of Robert Leslie, brother germane to the Lord Lindores, off the lettir of take granted to him be his majestie off the dait the second day of September, jM vjC fourtie ane yeeres, off the landis, rentes, teyndis, dewties and proffittes of the beshoprike of Orknay, for the space of tua nynteene yeeres eftir his entrie therto, quhilke wes of the cropt jM vjC fourtie ane yeeres, for the yeerlie payment of the soume of eight thousand merkes Scotts money, and of the warrand subscryved be his majestie directed to the thesaurer, thesaurer deput and remanent commissioneres of excheker for allowance to the said Robert Leslie of the yeerlie pensione of tua hundreth pundis sterling, payable to him furth of the exchekker of England and that out of the said take dewtie abovewrittin of the said beshoprik of Orknay, to be reteened be him dureing the yeers of the take, should be allwayes without prejudice to the gifte and mortificatione granted be the kingis majestie to and in favoures of the saidis proveist, baillies, counsell and commountie of the burghe of Edinburghe and ther successoures of the fruites, teyndis, rentes and dewties of the said beshoprik of Orknay, spiritualitie and temporalitie thairof, for the supplie of the mentinance of thair ministeres of said burghe, and that the samene gifte and mortificatione granted to them be the kingis majestie to the effect foirsaid be nowayes impaired, hurt nor prejudged be the foirsaid lettir of take and ratificatione thairof granted to the said Robert Leslie; and heerwpoun the said James Cochrane, commissioner foirsaid, in name of the proveist, baillies, counsell and commontie of the said burghe of Edinburgh, and in opin and plaine parliament in audience of his majestie and estates of parliament, askit instrumentes.
