Oure soverane lord and estates of parliament ratifie and approve the actes mad be his majesties predecessoures King James the First of woorthie memorie in his 7 parliament and 101 act thairof, and the act mad by his majesties umquhill deirest father of worthie memorie in his 22 parliament anent the commissioneres of small barones in parliament in the whole heidis, clauss and articles therof, and specially that article of the said last act beiring that all free holderes be taxed for the expences of the commissioneris of the shyres passing to parliamentes or generall counsells, and lettires of horneing and poynding to be directed for payment of the soumes taxed for that effect wpoun ane simple chairge of sex dayes allenerlie, with this additione: for cleereing of the quantitie and maner of the said taxatione that thair shall be allowed to everie one of the saidis commissioneres for there whole chairges and expenss fyve pundis everie day for there expenss wpoun any parliamentes or general counselles, counting the first and last dayes from the doune siting and rysing of the saidis parliamentes, with suche other dayes allowed for the commissioneres of every shyre for there coming to the saidis parliamentes or generall counselles and returneing therfrom from tyme to tyme as they shall sit or be adjorned, viz: for the commissioners of the shereffdome of Edinburgh, for there comeing and goeing, one day; of Fyffe, tuo dayes; of Linlithgow, tuo dayes; of Clydesdaill, four dayes; of Nithisdaill, four dayes; of Dumbartane, four dayes; of Stirling, tuo dayes; of Haddingtoune, one day; off Berwike, four dayes; of Clakmanane, tuo dayes; of Kinroshyre, tuo dayes†; of Pearth, four dayes; of Mernes, four dayes; of Air, four dayes; of Wigtoun, sex dayes; off Kirkecudbright, four dayes; of Roxburghe, four dayes; of Aberdeene, eight dayes; of Renfrew, four dayes; of Selkirke, tuo dayes; of Bamffe, eight dayes; of Elgine, ten dayes; of Nairne, ten dayes; of Argyle, eight dayes; of Innernes, tuelve dayes; of Caithnes, sexteene dayes; of Sutherland, fourteene dayes; of Orknay, therty dayes. The which daylie allowance efter rysing of the saidis parliamentes or generall counselles shall be calculat and put in a soume by the clerke of parliament wnder his hand, to be devydit and imposed proportionally upoun the whole free holderes, heritoures and lyferenteres holding of the kingis majestie and the prince, according to the proportione of ther landes and rentes lying within the shyre, excepting allwayes forth of this act all the landis belonging to the noblemen or there immediat vasselles, and therfor declaires that there landis holdine of his majestie or prince and ther vasselles to be free of the said taxe, notwithstanding of this present act or any act preceeding, and that letteres be directed therwpoun by the lordis of sessione to chairge the freeholderes, heritoures and lyferenteres holding of his majestie and the prince to conveene at the heid burghe of everie shyre wpon one speciall day for devyding and setting doune the proportione thairof in maner foirsaid, with power also to stent the saidis free holderes, heritoures and lyferenteres for the tenth penny more of the said whole so callculat for the expenss of the lettires to be raised therfor, and others chairges in the collectione therof, with certificatione that such as shall conveene shall have pouer to proceed notwithstanding of the absence of the rest; and that lettires of horneing an poynding be directed therwpoun at the instance of the saidis commissioneres for payment therof in maner abovewrittin. And if payment be not mad within the dayes conteened in the chairge, so that the commissioneres be forced to poynd therfor, then and in that caise it shall be laufall to poynd for the double of the soume chairged for by and attour the shereffe, and no suspensione pas therwpoun bot upon consignatione allenerlie; and if the suspensione discusse aganes the suspender, in that caise the suspender shall be ordeened to make payment to the commissioneres of the double of the soume chairged for, by and attour the commissioneres other chairges and expenss in discussing the suspensione. And this act to take effect for the commissioneres of this present parliament and all parliamentes heireftir.†
