The quhilk day, anent the supplicatione givine in to the kingis majestie and honorabill house of parliament be Collonell Alexander Hammiltoun, generall of the artilliary, makand mentione that it is not wnknowne to his majestie and many of the honorabill house of parliament that the supplicantes haill studie hes bene in the airt of militarie discipline, especiallie anent artilliarie, wherin, he being imployit in Germany, upoun honorabill and good conditiones he was recallit therfra to England, wher his majestie was graciouslie pleased to grant him pentiones and allowanes of 800 lib. sterling be yeere, wherof he hes bene now be the iniquity of tymes frustrat neir the space of foure yeeres bygane. And sieing he hes givine proof of his love, fidelity and ability to serve his native cuntrie in the chairge of generall of the artilliarie or maister of the ordinance and is yit willing and reddie, ather in peace or warre, to dischairg that duetie which is incumbent to the samene, and whilke will requyre neerly alse great attendance, diligence and cair in peace as in warr, for preservatione and right ordering of the artilliarie, munitione and armes allreddie within this kingdome, and therfore desyreing his majestie and parliament to take the premiss to thair consideracion and to prescryve suche wayes as the supplicant may be payed of his bygane arreires and secured for payment therof intymecomeing dureing his lyftyme, as the supplicatione in it selfe proportes. Quhilke supplicatione being red in audience of his majestie and estates of parliament, his majestie and estates forsaidis remittes and referes the foirsaid supplicatione, alsweell anent the ordering and directing of the artilliarie perteyneing to the publict as anent the said pensiones, bygane arreires and allowance intymcomeing, to the committie nominat for the burdingis of the cuntrie, and gives theme warrand to proceed and determine thairintill as ane mater reasonabill and expedient for the good of the cuntrie and publict. And the estates earnestlie recommendis to the kingis majestie what may concerne his majesties pairt anent the office of generall of the artilliarie and yeerlie fiell thairof.

The quhilk day, anent the supplicatione givine to the parliament be James, erle of Home, makeand mentione of the great lose susteened be him by the lamentable accident that fell out at his house at Dunglas, and that the committie of estates therwpoun gave warrand to certane persones to appryse his loise, who accordinglie haveing tane tryell of the particulars of the said erles loss in sua farr as concerned his house of Dunglas, yairdis, dykes and planting thairof, they concludit that the reparatione therof would amont wnto the soume of fourtie thowsand ane hundreth threttie thrie pundis conforme to the report of the saidis commissionars, and therfor desyreing the kinge and parliament to take the said report to consideracion and to appoint course for reparatione or payment of the saidis loiss eftir consideracion of the haill particulares mentionat in the report and of the conditione of the houss before the ruening therof, quhilke apprysing cannot bot be fund far within the woorth valued, sieing it was esteemed by some workemen who war builderes of the hous that the reparatione therof would amont to the soume of ane hundreth and thertie thousand merkis. Quhilke supplicatione being red in audience of the king's majestie and estates of parliament, his majestie and estates foirsaidis remittis and referres the foirsaid supplicatione givine in and produced be the said James, erle of Home and desyre therof foirsaid, with the commisioune and warrandis granted be the committie of estates and reportes produceit, usit and made wpoun the erles supplicatione givine in to the said committie of estates, to the committie appoynted be the king and parliament for setling of the commoune burthings of this kingdome. Lykeas his majestie and estates of parliament recommendis the foirsaid busines abovementionat to the said committie for the commoune burdingis, ther consideracion as ane mater deserveing to be tane be them to consideracion.

The quhilk day, anent the supplicatione givine in to the kingis majestie and parliament by Dame Marie, countes of Home, makeand mentione of the great prejudice susteent by hir by the lamentable accident that fell out at hir house of Dunglas, wherof shoe was lyferenter, by the overthrow of the house and whole hushold stuffe, plenishing and hingingis therof, planting and yairdis of the samene, and that wpoun the supplicatione mad to the committie of estates be James, erle of Home, heritour of the house, the reparacion therof, yairdis and planting of the samene ware by famous persones estimat to fourtie thousand, ane hundreth threttie and thrie pundis, as the comissione and report givine in theranent beires, and in respect that the supplicant is liferenter of the house, yairdis and planting which is made wnproffitable to hir, necessar it is that the rest of the house which yit standis be repaired to hir, and shoe considerit for the loise of hir plenishing and houshold stuffe, and the moneyes appoynted for repairing of the house imployed for hir lyverent use therof or givine to hir wpoun securitie for refounding therof to the Erle of Home eftir her deceis, and therfor desyreing the king and parliament to take the premiss to consideracion and to appoynt sicke course for reparatione of the supplicantes loss as shall be fund equitable, and that the litle of the house not altogidder ruinat may be repaired and the supplicant satisfied for the loiss of hir plenishing and houshold stuffe, and that the rest of the moneyes appoynted to be payed may be imployit for hir lyverent use or givine her upoun securitie of making the samene furcumeand to the said Erle of Home eftir hir deceis, as the supplicatione proportes. Quhilke supplicatione being red in audience of the king and parliament, his majestie and estates of parliament remittes and referres the foirsaid supplicatione givine in and produceit be the said Dame Marie, countes of Home, and desyre thairof foirsaid, to the committie appoynted be the king and parliament for setling of the commone burdingis of the kingdome.
