The quhilk day motione being moved to his majestie and parliament if the nominatione and electione of the Lord Loudoune to be chancellour and the gifte granted be his majestie therwpoun, being of severall daites, shall be all of one dait or exprest in the severall dayes as they war done, his majestie and estates of parliament ordeanes that the gifte and act shall all beir one day and dait, viz: the last of September, notwithstanding of the difference of the minutes of the recordis of parliament.

Our soverane lord, with advyce and consent of the estates of parliament, taking to consideration that forsameikle as James, marqueis of Hammiltoune has bene intrusted be his majestie with his majesties great seale of Scotland these yeires bygane, who be himselfe and his wnderkeeper Maister Johne Hammiltoun, advocat, heath served the leiges and done everie thing incombent to the keeper of the said seall faithfullie and diligentlie, and becaus of the nominatione and electione of Johne, lord Loudoun to be lord heighe chancellor of Scotland, to whom his majestie and the saidis estates have appoynted the said noble marques to delyver the said great seale, who, for obedience of the said command, producit the said great seale in presence of the king and parliament to be delyvered as said is, therfor his majestie, with advyce and consent foirsaid, exoneres and quytcleames the said James, marqueis of Hammiltoun and his said wnder keeper of the said great seale and of ther cariages and actiones in the keeping therof and of ther useing the same dureing the said space.

The quhilk day the kingis majestie and estatis of parliament ordeanes the deputie thesaurer and Johne Fallconer, maister of the cunyiehouse, or any of them, to delyver to Johne, lord Loudoun, now chancellour of this kingdome, the chancellarie maiss quhilk is in ther handis; quhairanent thir presents (subscryved by the president of the parliament in presence of parliament) shall be ane sufficient warrand; quhilk maiss, for obedience thairof, was exhibit in parliament.

The quhilk day the kingis majestie and estates of parliament, haveing takine to ther consideracion the petitione of James, lord Almont, makeand mentione of the trust put wpoun him be the committie of estates of this kingdome, with consent of the lord generall, quherby he was intrusted in the chairg of liuetennent generall of ther army in the late troubles, and that dureing the tyme of his said imployment he heath laboured in all faithfullnes to acquyte himselfe, and sieing by the blissing of God and the happines of the late treattie all materes of that kynd are brought to ane peaceable close, he therfore desyreth that the kingis majestie and estates of parliament would be pleased to disburdene him of that chairge and receive ane accompt of his actiones thairintill, which he is willing to render that so he may have his majestie and estates approbatione or censure as he heath deserved, as his supplicatioun at mair lenth beires. His majestie and the estates, finding the said petitione to be most equitable, and haveing compaired the petitioner, his whole actiones and deportmentes in all the pairtes of his chairge foirsaid with his commissione granted to him the tyme of his wndertakeing the said chairge, togider with the said lord generall, his approbatione of the said Lord Almont, his cariage in the said chairge, doe find and declair that the said James, lord Almond heath in all fidelity and nobilitie of speirit walked woorthie of so great trust as was put wpoun him to be liuetennent generall of the said army; and therfor his majestie and estates of parliament not only doe liberate and exoner him of the said chairge and commissione or what meight be requyred therby, bot also, for the farder demonstratione of there respect to his noble deportment, doe add wnto his trewe woorth ther generall approbatione and doe honor him with this there nationall testimony: that he heath deserved weell of the publicke as a loyall subject to the kinge, a faithfull servant to the estates of parliament and a trewe patriot to his cuntrie.

The quhilk day Johne, lord Loudoune, chancellour, being callit befor the throne wher his majestie sate in his chyre of estate, the said Lord Loudoun suor the aith of alledgeance and the oath of ane counsellour, and thereftir received out of his majesties hand his patent of chancellor with the great seale thairto appendit, lykeas the foirsaid seall and maiss being exhibit in parliament war also delyvered to the said Lord Loudoun, chancellour; and therafter he suore the aith of faithfull administratione in his office, and so sate doune in the place deue to him as chancellour upon the throne and wpon the right hand of the president of parliament.

The quhilk day ane generall complaint anente the prejudices susteent be the leidges throw the lordis of sessione ther not passing of billes and doeing there deuties incumbent to there places and chairge for administratione of justice to the leidges, being red in audience of his majestie and estates of parliament, and the desyre thairof considerit be them, his majestie and estates foirsaids gives warrand to the lordis of sessione to doe all and every duetie incombent to the chairge, conforme to use and wont, ay and quhill the king and parliament signifie ther farder pleasure heiranent.
