Act of ratificatione of the profession of theologie in the Universitie of Glasgoue

Our soverane lord and estates of this present parliament ratifies and approves the act of the generall assemblie, daited the tuentie eight day of August 1639 yeires, proseiding upoun the supplicatione givine in to the said assembly for the Universitie of Glasgow be Doctor Johne Sthrange, desyreing that meanes might be used for furnishing of the universitie with ane competent nomber of professoures, and to invite or transport any who shall be fund fit for the said professionis, be the quhilke act power is givine to the commissioner therinnominat to invit or transport any who shall be fund fit for professione of theologie to the said universitie within this kingdome (not transporting any fra ony uther universitie within this kingdome or any minister out of Edinburghe), as the commissione of the dait foirsaid mair fullie proportes; togidder with ane act and sentance of the saidis commissionar beirand dait the tuentie nynt of Januar jM vjC fourtie yeires, ordeaneing the said Maister David Dicksone to be transported from his ministrie at Irving to be ane professor of theologie within the said Universitie of Glasgow, in maner and at the tyme conteanit in the said act and set doune be the commissioner theranente; togidder also with the condiscending and agreement past thairwpoun betuixt the principall and regents of the colledge of Glasgowe and the said Maister David Dicksone, daited the tuentie sevint of Februari 1640 yeirs, quhairby the said Maister David promeisse to transport himself to the said colledge betuixt that and the 15 day of Merch nixt thereftir and to wndergoe the chairge of ane doctour and professor of theologie within the said colledge, and one the wther pairt the principall and regents of the said colledge, with consent of the rector therof, hes agreed and condiscendit that the said Maister David shall have payit yeirlie forth of the personage teyndis of the parochine of Kilbryd for his stipend dureing his service of the cure the soume of eight hundreth pundis Scots money yeirlie at Whitsonday or within fyfteine dayest hereftir, beginand the first yeires payment at Whitsonday jM vjC fourtie one yeires for the cropt jM vjC fourtie, and that the said Maister David shall also have for his duelling house yeirlie that house heighe and laighe lyand at the north end of the said colledge occupyed be Maister Roberte Mayne, as the agreement subscryved be baith the saidis pairties lykewayes beires; togidder lykewayes with the act of the generall assembly at Aberdeene, beirand dait the third day of August 1640 yeires, ratifieand and approveand the foirsaid transportatione and agreement abovementionat, as that act in the self more fullie beires, in the haill heidis, articles, obleishment and conditiones respective conteanit in the foirsaid commissione, sentance, determinatione, agreement and ratification above rehearsit, conteaneing the said Maister David Dicksone his transportatione from the kirke of Irving to the colledge of Glasgowe and payment and assurance to him of the foirsaid stipend and ludgeing abovementionat. Lykeas our soverane lord and estates of parliament declair that this present generall ratificatione is and shall be als valied in all respectes as if the foirsaid particular wrettis were insert verbatim ad longum heirintill, quhairanent and anent all other objectiones that can be alledged heiragainst our said soverane lord and estates of parliament foirsaid hes dispensit and dispenss for evir. And also declaires, decernes and ordeines that the foirsaid commissione, act, agreement and ratificatione respective abovewrittin, with this present ratificatione of the samene, shall be ane sufficient ground, right and tytle to the said Maister David Dicksone and his successoures in the functione and place abovewrittine for bruiking and possessing therof, and also for bruiking and inhabiting the ludgeing and duelling abovespecifeit and wplifting and receiveing the foirsaid stipend of eight hundreth pundes out of the said personage teyndes of the parochine of Kilbryde of the said cropt and yeir of God jM vjC fourtie yeires conforme to the said agreement and in tymecomeing, provyding allwayes that this present ratificatione of the said commisione fra the generall assembly shall be no ground of reight in tymecomeing to the said universitie to transport ministeres to the said professione of theologie frome any place of this kingdome.
