The estaittis presentlie convenit, haveing considderit his majesties princelie care and regaird to haif the subjectis of this kingdome weele and sufficientlie provydit with armes and haveing respect thairwithall to the bruittis and rumouris of foreyne preparationis throughout diverse pairtis of Christendome, and thay finding it verie necessair and expedient that in this tyme of the universall combustioun throughout Christendome that the subjectis of this kingdome salbe prepairit and in reddines alsweele for persute as defence as the occasioun and necessitie of thair service sall require, thairfore the estaittis ordanis ane generall mustouris and wapponshawing to be maid throughout this whole kingdome bothe to burgh and land upoun the tuentie eight day of December nixt, to the intent the peoples provisioun of armes may be knowne and some beginning gevin to trayne thame in militarie discipline; and after report to be maid of thir mustouris, the estaittis ordanis that the lawis formerlie maid anent mustouris and provisioun of armour and wearlike exercises salbe prosequute and followit oute. And toucheing the propositioun maid be his majestie anent the bigging of fortis and blokhouses, the estaittis carefullie recommendit the same to the burrowis present, and how soone Colonell Gray sall come in this kingdome, the estaittis ordanis the overtour propouned be his majestie anent the bigging of fortis and blokhouses to be prosequute and followit oute. The estaittis likewayes findis it meitt and expedient that his majestie sall be humblie intreatted to send about tua shippis for gairding of the firthe and secureing of the trade.
