Overture of an act concerning surgeons and apothecaries in Edinburgh
Our sovereign lady, with advice and consent of the estates of parliament, ratifies and confirms the rights and privileges of the surgeons and apothecaries in Edinburgh. As also statutes and declares that hereafter there shall be no restraint upon the lieges of being served by them in medicines without calling physicians when the employers refuse to call any, prohibiting and discharging any prosecution of the said surgeons and apothecaries on the aforesaid account, without prejudice to their being liable for unskilful practice therein as appropriate.
