Petition: remit to session

The petition of [John Gordon], earl of Sutherland and [Ludovic Grant], laird of Grant, with a representation given in by the commissioners of treasury, read and, after hearing her majesty's advocate and solicitor for the queen's interest, it was put to the vote, remit the cause to be discussed before the lords of session or reserve the same to be considered in plain parliament and that a day be appointed for that effect, and carried remit.

Before the said vote [William Johnston], marquis of Annandale, [Patrick Hume], earl of Marchmont and Mr Francis Montgomery [of Giffen] gave in their protestation against the same and craved the same might be recorded and that they might have extracts thereof, and [Alexander Grant], laird of Grant, younger protested in the contrary, of which remit and protestations the tenors do follow.
