[Robert Balfour], lord [Balfour of] Burleigh, who was absent the last session of parliament, took the oath of allegiance and subscribed the same with the assurance and took the oath of parliament.
Another commission for Patrick Murdoch of Cumloden, newly elected one of the commissioners for the stewartry of Kirkcudbright, presented, and the competition moved between this commission and the commission given to [Alexander MacKie of] Palgowan, after reasoning, it was agreed that the matter should be remitted entire to be proceeded in the first diet of parliament next week and Palgowan with consent declared that he would not vote until the case was determined.
