Procedure: protest over precedence; minutes read

The lord advocate protested for the lord register and himself that the calling of the lord treasurer depute in the rolls before the register and he, with regard to his being a peer, might not prejudge them of their just rank and precedency.

Procedure: subscribing in parliament
Order for [Francis Sempill], lord Sempill's signing the formula etc.

The formula subjoined to the act of parliament in November 1700 for preventing the growth of popery as it was subscribed by the Lord Sempill and attested by [Alexander Montgomery], earl of Eglinton and [Sir James Stewart of Goodtrees], her majesty's advocate, two of the lords of her majesty's privy council, being read, the Lord Sempill was ordained to take and subscribe it again in parliament and he took and subscribed it accordingly.
