Then my lord commissioner made the following speech: viz:

My lords and gentlemen,

I have receaved by her majesties comand an examplification under the great seall of England of the act past in the parliament of that kingdom ratifieing the treaty of union in the same terms as the treaty was past here.

Her majestie orders it to be inserted in the books of parliament and to remain with the records of this kingdome, for which end I have putt it in my lord clerk register's hand.

My lords and gentlemen,

It's a great satisfaction to the queen that the union is thus happily concluded in her reigne, and I'm commanded by her majestie to assure you that nothing shall be omitted on her pairt to make the whole iseland feell the good effects of it.

And as I doubt not but the finishing of this great affair is acceptable to you, so I hope you will study to promote a cordiall union with our neighbours for the greater happiness and advantage of both kingdoms.

Then the examplification of the act of the parliament of England ratifieing the treaty of union betwixt Scotland and England under the great seall of England was read and ordered to be recorded .

Act for securing the Protestant religion and presbyterian church government, act ratifieing and approving the treaty of union of the two kingdoms of Scotland and England and act for settling the manner of electing the sixteen peers and fourty five members to represent Scotland in the parliament of Great Brittain were ordered to be proclaimed and printed.

Petition for Robert Prestoun of that ilk, John Chrystie and pairtners, subtacksmen of excyse, for releiving them of their subtacks and to appoint them to compt as collectors, read, and remitted to the lords of thesaurie and exchequer, conforme to a deliverance thereon.

Therafter the act for payment of the capitall and interest to the proprietors of the Affrican and Indian Company of Scotland out of the equivalent was againe read, as also read over by paragraphs.

And upon reading the last paragraph, a petition for the earle of Crawfurd, craveing a debt that was due to the deceast Major John Lyndsay by the Affrican Company might be allowed out of their effects, was read, and ane allowance was granted in the terms of a delyverance thereon.

As also upon another petition given in by the relict of Captain Baillie who dyed in the said company's service for some allowance for her great loss, ane allowance was also granted to her in the terms of a delyverance thereon, and, after several amendments were made upon the said act, the same was voted and approven.

Then the lord chancellor, by order of her maties high commissioner, adjourned the parliament till Fryday nixt at ten of the clock.
