Petition for John, earle of Crawfoord against Sir William Menzies, late tacksman of the excise and his cautioners, read, and they ordered to see and answer the same against the second sederunt next week, with certification.

Petition for John, duke of Athole against the said Sir William Menzies, read, and he ordered to see and answer against the said dyet, with certification.

Petition for Frances, countes dowager of Seafort against the earl of Cromartie and others again read, and they ordained to see and answer against the second sederunt next week, with certification.

Ordered that the second sederunt next week be for privat business.

[Act read, amended and approved; continuation]

Then the parliament did proceed to consider the act for a triennial parliament, and, after some reasoning whether this act shall take effect during the queen's reign or upon the successor only, being put to the vote, carried that it should take effect during the queen's reign.

Moved that this parliament continue only for one year after this date, also moved that it may continue for three years. And, upon debate, it was put to the vote ane or three years, and it carried that this parliament may continue three years after this date.

Moved that seeing by the act farmers, manadgers and collectors of her majesties customs and excyse and surveyers are declared uncapable to be members of parliament, that the generall receiver be likewise added. And, after debate, it was put to the vote, add the generall receiver to the act or not, and carried in the negative. Then the whole act being read, it was put to the vote approve the act or not, and carried approve.

Then the lord chancellor, by order of her majesties high commissioner, adjourned the parliament till Friday next at ten a cloak.
