Commission Alexander McKie of Palgoun, newlie elected one of the commissioners for the stewartrie of Kircudbright, being presented, it was objected that the election being on the first of August he had very quickly come up, and that there is ground to believe his commission was contraverted. After debate thereon, he was admitted, but it was declaired that all persons were free to object against the said commission notwithstanding of his said admission, and thereupon he took the oath of alleadgence and subscribed the same with the assurance and took the oath of parliament.

It being moved that the act of dissolutione in favours of James, marquis of Montrose might be read for the second time, the earle of Bute declaired that he not being cited, he did not state himself a contradictor, and entered his protestatione for saving his privat right, which was admitted and ordered to be recorded. And thereafter the act was read, and, after reasoning and several amendments made on the act, it was put to the vote approve or not, and carried approve.

Petition the earle of Sutherland and laird of Grant, craveing the proces depending at their instance against the lords commissioners of the thesaurie might be remitted to be discussed before the lords of session, read, and the commissioners of the thesaurie allowed to see and answer again the next dyet of parliament, and ordered that then this petition and answers be taken into consideratione.

Petition the dutches of Buccleugh against the earles of Melvill and Leven and Mr James Melvill of Hallhill, craveing a dyet may be appoynted for hearing her cause against them, and that Sir David Dalrymple may be allowed to plead the same. The earle of Leven desyred to see and answer the said petition, and it being put to the vote appoynt a day for hearing or to see and ansuer, it carried appoynt a day for hearing, and the second dyet of parliament nixt week appoynted for that effect, and Sir David Dalrymple allowed to plead for her.

The complent the earle of Rutherglen against ane illegal order for quartering appoynted to be heard after the dutches of Buccleugh's cause the second dyet of parliament nixt week.

The nixt dyet of parliament appoynted for considering the report from the commissioners appoynted by the last session of parliament for inspecting the accompts of the publict fonds, and declaired the parliament will then consider the petition given in be the duke of Atholl and the officers of his late regement, the petitione of Liuetennent Generall Ramsay, the petition for the viscount of Teviot, the petition for Collonell George McGill, the petition for the officers of the army and garrisons who want their clearing and clothing, the petition for Liuetennent Collonell John Hepburne, the petition for Captain Thomas Hay, the petition of the disbanded officers, the petition for the corporalls in the independent troups of horse, petition the marques of Lothian, petition John Auchmouty, petition Sir William Douglas, petition the relict of Captain Alexander Dunbar, petition Captain David Lindsay and all other officers petitions relateing to arrears.

Petition Alexander McDonald of Glengairie, craveing the garrison may be removed from his house of Invergairie and the parliament to modifie and determine a sum to be payed to him in reparation of his losses and damnages, read, and her majesties advocat allowed to see and ansuer again the second dyet of parliament nixt week.

Petition Sir James Stewart of Goodtrees, her majesties advocat, craveing a day may be appoynted for hearing his cause against Johnstoun of Straiton, read, and the second dyet of parliament next week appoynted for that effect after the dutches of Buccleugh's and earle of Rutherglen's.
