The quhilk day the kingis majestie, in presens of his thrie estaitis convenit in this present parliament, presentit his revocatioun underwrittin, subscriwit with his hand, disyring the same to be ratefiit and apprevit and the same to have the strenth and effect of ane act of parliament in tyme cuming, and his saidis estaitis to interpone thair aucthoritie to the same; the quhilk disyre the saidis estaitis thocht ressonabill, and hes ratefiit and apprevit and, be the tennour heirof, ratefiis, apprevis and confermis his hienes revocatioun foirsaid, and hes ordanit and ordanis the same revocationis to be insert and registrat in the buikis of parliament, and the same to be of als grite strenth, valour, force and effect in all tyme cuming as ony revocationis maid be his hienes predicessouris, kingis or quenis of this realme, in ony tyme bigane in thair less aige, befoir thair compleit and perfyte aige, and hes interponit and interponis thair aucthoritie to the same, conform to the said revocationis, of the quhilk the tennour followis:

We, James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, havand now the full administratioun and rewling of oure realme in oure awin handis, and havand consideratioun that be the prevelege of the common law, as also that oure maist nobill progenitouris, kingis of Scotland of gude memorie, be thair actis and statutis maid in thair parliamentis, hes revokit, cassit and annullit all thingis done be thame in thair minoritie and less aige in hurt and detriment of thair conscience and croun, landis, rowmes, possionis or utherwayis pertening to the same, quhairby thai wer dannesit and skaythit be alienationis, donationis, presentationis, venditionis or be ony uther dispositioun quhatsumevir, thairfoir now, we, having compleitit the fourtene yeir of oure aige, revokis as efter followis. First, we revok, casis and annullis all maner of infeftmentis and dispositionis quhatsumevir we or oure regentis haif maid during the tyme that we or thay had regiment of oure realme in oure or thair handis, and all uther thingis that hes bene done in hurt and detriment of oure said croun, landis, rentis, rowmes, possionis, patronages of benefices and offices pertening to the same; and in speciall we revok, casis and annullis all infeftmentis, donatiounis, alienatiounis and uther dispositionis maid be us, with advise of oure saidis regentis, or be thame in oure name, or be us sen the acceptatioun of the regiment upoun oure selff ony maner of way, in fre ferme franktenement or lang takis of ony landis, lordschippis, rowmes, possionis, custumis, annuellis, fischeingis, burrow maillis, castell wairdis or uther thingis quhatsumevir annexit to oure croun or onie part of the samin, quhether the samin hes bene gevin be oure darrest moder or be us to ony persoun or personis contrair the actis maid thairupoun, to be reduced to us agane and to oure croun be vertew of the statutes maid thairupoun, annexationes and efter the form of the same. Item, we revoke all alienationis and dispositionis quhatsumevir of ony rentis, landis, rowmes, possessionis and heritages anext to the principalitie and to the prince, secund persoun of oure realme, maid be us in maner foirsaid. Item, we revok all donationis, alienatiounis, fewfermes, giftis and dispositionis quhatsumevir in lyfrent or utherwyis maid in oure nonaige, of quhatsumevir landis, rentis, annuelrentis or uther revenues that oure said darrest moder had in hir possessioun the tyme that scho dimittit the croun in oure favouris, be gift and utherwyis, and of all offices, lyk as chalmerlanis, bailliareis and custumaris maid for ma yeiris bot fra ane chekker, quhill the compt be maid in the nixt chekker efter following, and of all takis and assedationis maid for langer termes nor fyve yeiris. Item, we revoke all tailyeis maid fra the airis in generall to the airis maill of ony landis, rowmes and possessionis within oure realme aganis the law and gude conscience. Item, we revoke all new infeftmentis of landis, rowmes and possessionis gevin in blanche ferm that wer haldin of us of befoir be service of waird and releiff. Item, we revoke all regaliteis, confirmatiounis of regaliteis and of all offices gevin be us in heritage or be oure said darrest moder aganis the actis and statutes that na regaliteis suld be gevin in heritage without the advise of the haill parliament. Item, we revoke all maner of alienatiounis be infeftment and utherwyis maid or grantit of onie heritage in oure nonage that become lawchfullie in oure handis be ressoun of foirfaltoure, bastardrie or any uther richt and all lyfrentis gevin thairof in oure minoritie. Item, we revoke all new creatiounis of landis in baronyis, annexationis and unionis of diverse landis in fie, in prejudice of oure dew service aucht to us and oure maist nobill progenitouris of befoir, and siclyk, we revoke all discharges of services of suittis of courtis aucht and ald to oure progenitouris foirsaidis. Item, we revoke all new infeftmentis gevin of creatioun of landis in baronyis and lordschippis annext to oure croun. Item, we revok all giftis and confirmatiounis past be us of quhatsumevir landis and heritageis be fals suggestioun, be expreming of fals caus, quhair gif thay had bene expremit ane trew caus and the veritie we had not gevin the samin and thairthrow we ar gretumlie and enormlie hurt. Item, we revoke all infeftmentis in fee or lyfrent, giftis and dispositiounnis quhatsumevir maid be oure darrest moder, be oure regentis or onie of thame, or be oure selff sen the acceptatioun of the regiment of oure realme in oure awin persoun, of all oure hospitallis and maisondewis, landis or rentis apertening thairto, in hurt or prejudice of us, oure conscience or croun, to the end the saidis hospitallis may be reducit to thair formar institutioun for the uphald of the pure; and generally we revok, casis and annullis all and quhatsumevir thingis done2 us in oure minoritie and les aige in hurt and detriment of oure saull and conscience, hurting of the prevelege of oure croun, prejudiciall to the samin and to us and oure patrimonie thairof, and all and sindrie uther thingis that the law and consuetude of this oure realme leivis us to revoke; and als willis and declaris that this, oure revocatioun, extend to all thingis alsweill not specefiit as specefiit thairin quhilkis pertenit to us and oure said croun, by dimissioun of oure said darrest moder, and to be extendit fra hir dimissioun in all thingis foirsaidis to us and oure behuiff, als larglie as the revocatioun maid be oure said darrest moder micht be extendit to fra the deceis of oure maist nobill gudschir and grandschir, King James the Fyift and King James the Feird, to the tymes, dayis and dait of thair revocationis respective; and as the revocatioun maid in King James the Secundis tyme micht be extendit to fra the deceis of oure maist nobill progenitour King James the First to the making thairof, protesting that albeit we, of oure favour and benevolence, suffer ony persoun or personis to use, posseid or brouk ony prevelegis, possessionis of rowmes, landis, offices or of ony uther thing quhatsumevir falland under this oure revocatioun, it sall mak na richt to the usaris, haldaris and possessouris thairof, bot it salbe lefull to us to put oure handis thairto quhen we pleis, but ony contradictioun, and that be vertew of this oure revocatioun, actis and constitutionis of oure realme maid of befoir.

The revocatioun of the casualiteis

We, James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, considdering the present estait of oure casualiteis daylie gevin and disponit throw inoportunitie of askarris, in sic excessive maner that difficill it is to intertene the daylie and ordinar expensis of oure estait and croun, howbeit the occasioun of charges heirwithall continewalie incresis, and we and oure estait, considdering that oure casualiteis aucht not to be sa inordinatlie and inconsideratlie disponit at the inoportune sute of all askarris, bot oure commoditie maid thairof, and sic discretioun had in the dispositioun of the same as we may convenientlie leif on oure awin, thairfoir we, be the advise of oure saidis estaitis and haill bodye of this present parliament, revokis, rescindis, casis, annullis and discharges all giftis of feis, pensiones, wageis, leverais and dispositionis out of oure casualiteis and cofferris gevin be us, with advise of oure regentis for the tyme, or be oure selff, sen the acceptatioun of the gubernament of oure realme in oure awin persoun, declarand the same to be null and of nane availl, force nor effect in tyme cuming, discharging oure thesawrer present and to cum of all payment making of the saids feis, pensionis, wageis, leverais and utheris thingis appointit to be payit furth of casualiteis of the terme of Mertimes lastbipast, or thairefter in tyme cuming, quhill thay haif oure new and speciall warrand and directioun to be grantit, with avise of oure counsell, upoun gude and necessar consdieratioun, efter the dait heiroff.

The revocatioun of the collectorie

We, James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, understanding how the thriddis of benefices within oure realme wer first assumit and uptakin for sustentatioun of the ministerie and to support the prince, to interteny and set furthward the commoun effairis of the cuntrey, and how thairefter, be act of parliament, it wes providit that the haill thriddis of the haill beneices within oure realme suld be first pait to the ministeris of the evangell and thair successouris, providing alwayise that the collectouris of the saidis ministeris suld mak yeirlie compt in the chekker of thair intromissioun, sua that the ministeris, being first pait of thair stipendis apertening to everie ane of thame, the rest and superplus suld be employit to oure use; quhilk ordour continewit quhill certane abuses and corruptionis being considderit and espyed in the collectouris for the tyme, upoun the sute of the saidis ministeris, certane assinationis maid unto thame of thair levingis and stipendis in the places maist ewest and commodious to thair residence, it being alwyise meanit and intendit that quhen God suld raise up ma qualefiit personis and godlie ministeris, thay suld be plantit in the places found maist convenient for thame, and quhatevir suld be assignit in the saidis stipendis, that the collectour generall of the superplus suld alluterlie decist fra further craving intromissioun or uptaking of the samin of ony termes efter the said assinatioun; and albeit the superplus of the saidis thriddis, attour the ordiner assinationis of the stipendis of the ministerie, contenit in the yeirlie buke of modificatioun, aucht to serve for the stipendis of sic qualefiit personis as God sall rais up from tyme to tyme, worthie to be admitit in the functioun of the ministerie, and to support the prince, to interteny and set forthwart the publict effairis of the cuntrie, nevertheless, throw the inoportune sute of sindrie personis mair respecting thair awin particular proffite then ather the sustentatioun of the ministerie or oure honorabill estait and commoun weill of oure realme, we, be avise of oure regentis in oure minoritie, and pairtlie be our selff sen we acceptit the governament of oure realme in oure awin persoun, hes bene movit to mak dispositioun of the said superplus in pensioun or to discharge or gif the samin frie to sum personis, quhairthrow thair remanis litill or na thing to be disponit on, other to be modefiit, assignit and appointit in leveangis and stipendis to sic qualefiit personis as God sall rais up heirefter meit to enter in the functioun of the ministerie or to supplie the publict and neidfull effairis of oure estaite. Quhilk being diligentlie and with gude deliberatioun advysit upoun be us and oure thrie estaitis in parliament, it is found be thame that the saidis superplus of the saidis thriddis of benefices, being assumit and takin in oure handis for the causis and effairis befoir specefiit, aucht not, nor micht not, be disponit nor gevin utherwayis, bot applyit to the same use that thay wer ordanit and applyit unto at the beginning; and thairfoir we, with avise of oure thrie estaittis and haill bodie of this present parliament, revokis, rescindis, casis and annullis and discharges all the saidis giftis, feis or frie dispositionis out of the saidis thriddis of benefices and collectorie in pensioun or frilie dischargit or of the superplus and omittit of ony benefices or of ony commoun kirkis or landis within oure realme gevin be the quene, oure darrest moder, or be us, with avise of oure regentis for the tyme, or be oure selff sen the acceptatioun of the gubernament in oure awin persoun, togidder with all takis and assedationis sett be us, oure said darrest moder, or regentis of the said commoun kirkis, declarand and decernand the same to be null and of nane availl, force nor effect in tyme cuming; and ordanis the collectour generall of the said superplus, be him selff, his servandis and officiaris in his name, to ask, crave, ressave, intromett and uptak his haill superplus to the use and effect befoir specefiit of the crop and yeir of God jM vC lxxxj yeiris instant Witsonday and Martimes termes of the samin, and in tyme cuming, without respect of ony gift of pensioun set or frie discharge of ony pairt of the said collectour grant in onie tyme bigane preceding the dait heirof; and that lettres be direct to officiaris of armes, schirreffis in that pairt to mak publicatioun and intimatioun heirof be oppin proclamatioun at the mercat croces of the heid burrowis of oure realme and utheris places neidfull, that nane pretend ignorance of the samin, inhibiting all and sindrie oure liegeis that nane of thame tak upoun hand to answer, obey and mak payment of ony maner of pensioun gevin furth of the said collectorie or ony pairte thairof to ony persoun or personis clamand the samin be ony gift, fie or frelie dischargit as said is, bot to answer the said collectour or his deputtis thairof, notwithstanding ony giftis, decreittis or lettres obtenit thairupoun in tyme bigane.
